Sony’s nieuwe, vernieuwde PlayStation Plus is nog maar een week verwijderd voor sommige gebieden en een maand voor de meeste gebieden. Daarom heeft het bedrijf “een aantal” games bekendgemaakt die bij de lancering van de service beschikbaar zullen zijn. Zoals beloofd gaat het om titels van alle PlayStation-generaties, behalve de Vita, en bepaalde games gelden alleen voor bepaalde lagen van de service.
De PlayStation Plus Extra en Premium (in sommige gebieden ook wel Deluxe genoemd) lagen zullen de volgende PlayStation 4 en PlayStation 5 games hebben.
De meeste zijn PS4-games, maar er zijn ook een select aantal PS5-games.
Sony verklaarde dat haar lijst slechts een deel van de games bevatte en Ubisoft volgde door op haar eigen website nog een handvol games te onthullen die op de eerste dag zullen verschijnen.
Ubisoft is van plan om 50 van haar klassieke titels tegen het einde van 2022 op haar Ubisoft + Classics line-up, dat is een subsectie van Ubisoft + zal komen voor zowel Ubisoft + abonnees en PlayStation Plus Extra en Premium abonnees.
Nieuwe PS4- en PS5-games zullen ook aan het begin van elke maand worden toegevoegd.

PlayStation Premium krijgt ook een heleboel oudere games, en Sony bevestigde een paar theorieën over hen tijdens de onthulling van de lijst.
Sommige games zullen verbeterde framerates en hogere resoluties hebben.
Een handvol geselecteerde PS1- en PSP-games krijgt ook een nieuwe gebruikersinterface waarmee gebruikers op elk moment kunnen opslaan en terugspoelen, vergelijkbaar met de oudere titels die in Nintendo Switch Online worden aangeboden.
Degenen die ook digitaal hebben gekocht selecte klassiekers games worden aangeboden in het abonnement zal ook niet aan te melden voor PlayStation Plus of een aparte aankoop te doen om ze te spelen op PS4 of PS5.
Het lijkt er bijvoorbeeld op dat als je Ape Escape hebt gekocht toen het digitaal werd aangeboden op PS3, je het spel gewoon zou moeten krijgen, zonder verplichtingen of abonnementen.
Sony bevestigde ook dat sommige van de titels beschikbaar zullen zijn voor individuele aankoop, wat sommigen bij de aankondiging al theoretiseerden.
Sony gaf echter geen commentaar op de mogelijkheid om trophies toe te voegen aan deze oude games.
Het is onduidelijk of ze trophies zullen krijgen, maar de PS2 op PS4 games zullen waarschijnlijk trophies hebben aangezien die PS4 ports dat wel deden.
Het eerste blok zijn originele PS1 games met een enkele PSP game in de mix. Het tweede blok zit vol met PS2 games die, wederom, de PS2 op PS4 games zijn.
Het derde blok is een beetje ongewoon. Het zijn allemaal remasters die op de PS4 zijn uitgekomen, maar het lijkt erop dat Sony de maas in de wet gebruikt omdat het oudere titels zijn om ze in de Premium laag te gooien.
Bioshock kwam bijvoorbeeld voor het eerst uit op PS3, maar hoewel de 2016 PS4 remaster wordt gebruikt, lijkt deze alleen beschikbaar te zijn voor PlayStation Plus Premium leden, ook al krijgen degenen met Extra toegang tot PS4 games.
Het is onduidelijk hoe alle andere PS4-remasters van PS3-games behandeld gaan worden, aangezien Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, een PS4-port van een PS3-game, wel in Extra wordt aangeboden.
Nieuwe klassieke titels zullen ook in het midden van elke maand worden gerecycled.

Er zijn ook een heleboel PS3-titels die alleen kunnen worden gestreamd voor PlayStation Plus Premium-leden op PS4, PS5 en pc.
Maar Sony merkte op dat gebruikers een internetverbinding met 15 mbps moeten hebben om in 1080p te kunnen streamen.
Een onbepaald aantal van de eerder genoemde games (behalve voor PS5) kan ook worden gestreamd voor mensen met PlayStation Plus Premium, maar deze PS3-titels kunnen alleen worden gestreamd.

Deze laten gebruikers het volledige spel gedurende twee uur spelen, maar gelukkig telt de timer alleen als spelers in het spel zijn.
Trofeeën en opslaggegevens worden meegenomen als gebruikers besluiten de titel te kopen.
Zes games zullen lanceren met trials.
